| The need for survival training has never been greater. Not only are we indulging in more exotic holidays, challenging expeditions, and foreign business ventures, but the last twelve years have been particularly unstable. Those years were all overshadowed by the events of September 11, 2001. That event affected everyone and our lives will never be the same again. It's crucial that we are prepared for any event and survival training is the best insurance policy that you can take out. Just by following the basic techniques, and knowing what to do in an emergency will make the world a safer place. You could be isolated anywhere in the world. Each environment calls for special survival techniques. But each offers some form of support and can be exploited for food, fuel, water and shelter - if you know how. Although initially it may take great physical effort to escape from dangerous situations, survival is a mental exercise. Mental attitude is as important as physical endurance and knowledge. You must know how to take everything possible from nature and use it to the fullest, how to attract attention to yourself so that rescuers may find you, and how to make your way across unknown territory back to civilization if there is no hope of rescue, navigating without a map or compass. You must know how to maintain a healthy physical condition, or if sick or wounded, heal yourself and others. You must be able to maintain your morale and that of others who share your situation. Remember no matter what always: BE PREPARED!!! |
